W. Brace Krag ’27

Body

W. Brace Krag died of heart disease Mar. 30, 1995, at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Point, Mich. He had been in poor health for some months, but I received a thank-you note from him late last fall for a note I had sent him.

Brace came to us from the Hill School in Pottstown, Penn. In Princeton, he captained the 150-lb. crew and was a member of Colonial Club. He graduated from Michigan Law School and practiced law for nine years with Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone in Detroit, thereafter becoming V.P. and trust officer of the Natl. Bank of Detroit. He retired in 1969.

He married Julia Quirk in 1935. They had two sons, William and Michael, and four grandchildren.

Brace remained active in Princeton affairs, serving as a president of the Princeton Club of Michigan and as regional chairman of the Michigan Princeton Fund.

According to his sons, Brace’s basement was painted orange and black, and a tiger was painted on the wall of his room. He is survived by sons William and Michael and by his grandchildren. To them, the class extends its sympathy in the loss of a colorful classmate. (I am indebted to Edith and Andy Barr for much of Brace’s obituary.)
