W. Charles Hogg Jr. ’34

Body

CHARLIE HOGG DIED in Pinehurst, N.C., Jan 23, 1995. He had retired from practicing law in Philadelphia in 1984 and moved with his wife, Deede, to North Carolina. Son of the Rev. W. C. Hogg 1896, Charlie was a devoted Princetonian. "Old Nassau'' was played at his service.

Chuck (as he preferred to be called) admitted that he had difficulty refusing requests for public service. As a result, he said, "I have served in a variety of posts, many of them oriented to the Episcopal Church." For years, he was active in church work at both the parish and diocesan levels.

In Philadelphia, he was a member of the Orpheus Club, president of the Princeton Club, and a worker for Annual Giving. At our mini-reunion in Williamsburg in 1986, he strummed bass to accompany Dick Skillman on piano and Rus Wood on saxophone.

Surviving arc his wife of 55 years, Dorothy; sons Henry and Richard; a daughter Mary Elizabeth Shaw; and three grandchildren. To them, we offer our sincere sympathies.
