Wallace Hamilton ’34

Body

WALLY HAMILTON, the older brother of Tom, died Oct. 14, 1994, just three days after his 83rd birthday. A resident of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, for the past 34 years, he had pursued a career in research and development.

As he wrote in our 50th yearbook, his career led eventually "to 52 U.S. patents and others in the U.K., Germany, Sweden, France, Spain, Japan, and India in the following fields: automatic weapons, textile machinery, medical equipment, and equipment for the marine, railroad, and aircraft industries." He was also head of a local volunteer group of "retired 'experts' in various fields who have the solutions and are looking for the problems."

Wally was also active at one time or another in sports car events, local politics, and sailing. He traveled extensively, visited Europe or North Africa annually, and regularly went to Japan on business. Included in his travels was our class excursion on the Mississippi in 1991, when he was accompanied by his wife. Wally married Mary Barlow in 1935. She died in Feb. 1994. The couple had no children.
