Wallace M. Thompson Jr. ’48

Body

Wally Thompson died on Mar. 29, 1989, in Lakewood,  N.Y., after a battle with emphysema and heart problems.

"Skipper," as he was known to all, came to us from a Princeton heritage and Avonworth High School, in Ben Avon, Penn. He served in the Marines from 1943 to 1945, and after a year in the V-12 program at Franklin and Marshall, he entered Princeton in the spring of 1946. He attained the rank of second lieutenant.

Skipper found his closest friends at Tower, for which he played intramural football and served as secretary. Among classmates, his particular pals were Rock Annessee, Whitey Meyer, John Pell, Bud Hintz, the late Don McCaskill, and Mac McKee. He graduated with honors in economics. Skipper had a long and successful career as a manufacturer's representative.  He was an avid, fun-loving woodsman, hunter, and fisherman.

To his son Wallace III, stepson Jim Tillotson, and sister Margo Forsyth, of Pittsburgh, the class offers its deepest sympathy and shares in their loss.
