Wallace Morton Sinclair ’43
Wallace died on Apr. 7, 1989, at the age of 74. He was born in N.Y.C., but his family moved to Bound Brook, N.J., when he was 3. Wallace attended Newton and Shen¬andoah military academies, and then graduated from Bound Brook High School in 1933.
He worked for six years in a local Union Carbide plant before he enrolled in Princeton in 1939, and during his undergraduate years, he continued to work. His perse¬verance and determination to obtain a college education despite the Depression were only two of Wallace's out¬standing attributes. He graduated with a degree in chem¬ical engineering. While on campus, Wallace was a mem¬ber of Dial Lodge. After college, Wallace returned to Union Carbide as a salesman in the Midwest. In the late 1960s, he transferred to the firm's plant in West Virginia to work as purchasing agent. He retired in 1972.
Wallace enjoyed sports-car rallies, Sunfish sailing, and travel. In the summer of 1987, he realized a lifelong dream by visiting Scotland, the land of his ancestors. He is survived by his widow, Catharine; three daughters, Ms. Sharon Sinclair, of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Pamela Stover, of St. Albans, W.Va., and Mrs. Deborah Dickens, of Oliver Springs, Tenn.; and a sister, Mrs. Frank Thompson, of Bound Brook. His late father, Wallace M. '04, also at¬tended Princeton. To all his survivors we offer our deep¬est and most heartfelt sympathies.
