After Princeton he graduated from Vanderbilt University Law School. Stu attained the rank of captain in the Army while serving a two-year tour of duty at Fort Bragg, N.C. He returned to Memphis and began to practice with his father’s law firm. He was a successful attorney for many years.

Stu became the proud father of five children and three grandchildren. He continued to play tennis with his Memphis friends.
