WALTER B. SCOTT JR., a professor at Northwestern Univ., Evanston, Ill., died on Mar. 13, 1980, He earned his bachelor's degree from Lafayette College, Easton, Penn., in 1929. Subsequently he carried a master's degree and a doctor of philosophy degree in English at Princeton, the latter degree in 1936. At Northwestern he specialized in dramatic literature and wrote copiously, largely in support of his teaching. He published a book of satire that proved highly popular. In 1936 he married Elizabeth Franklin, who survives him and has been most helpful in the preparation of this memorial note, His avocations included painting and foreign languages, in which he acquired substantial proficiency, The Scotts had no children. Sincere apologies are offered to Mrs. Scott for the delay in preparation of this note.
