WALTER DIED Mar. 31, 1994, in New Canaan He was 79. He prepared at Gunnery and Pomfret schools. At Princeton, he majored in chemistry.

Walter worked for Merck and Co. in research and development, then became director of marketing research for Charles Pfizer and Co. He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the Market Research Assn. He was also renowned as a leading authority on the gypsy moth. He wrote several papers on this subject for the New Canaan Society. During WWII, while with Merck, he participated for three years in projects for the Office of Scientific Research and Development.

Walter is survived by his widow, Julia Post, whom he married in 1941; a daughter, Julia; and two grandchildren. His brother N. Philip '29 predeceased him. The class extends its sympathy to his family.
