Walter Nirenberg ’46

Body

WATER NIRENBERG joined us in Feb. 1943. He left us Apr. 30, 1992. The Class of 1946 was very important to Walter. The Prade is still dominated by the blazers that Walter created for our 15th reunion. In 1966 Walter cochaired our 20th reunion.

After service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, at Cornell and at sea, Wait returned to Princeton in Sept. 1946. lie graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering, in June 1947, to start a career that included senior executive positions in the men's apparel industry, pioneer development of manufacturing along the Mexican border, and partnership in Holding Capital Inc. Walter, a sensitive, caring friend, will he missed by all of us.

In his quiet but humorous way, he generously hosted a minireunion, in 1983, at his home in the Berkshires. This last hurrah for Bill Furnivall will be long remembered by the Blumbergs, Fishers, Kimballs, Tottens, and Witherspoons, along with their memories of Sandy Speer. Walter will be especially missed by Witherspoon, Kimball, Hegstrom, and Blumberg.

The heartfelt condolences of the Class go to Walter's widow, Pat, and his son Walter Jr. and daughter Mary.
