Walter V. Aldridge ’26
WALT ALDRIDGE died at his home in Springfield, N.J., Sept. 13, 1993, a cancer victim. Walt came to Princeton from Kent School with his brother, Duncan, and soon found that the liberal arts curriculum was not for him. So, in sophornore year, he transferred to the study of engineering and sailed through. He did the work of four years in three, skipping outside activities other than membership in Terrace Club.
After graduation, Walt studied mining engineering at Columbia, and in 1920, joined IngersollRand Co.'s student job training, leading to permanent employment. From 1947 until retirement in 1960, Walt was in charge of I.R.'s Newark office, covering northern New Jersey and serving many of the country's leading manufacturing plants.
In 1930, Walt married Beatrice Sheriden and they enjoyed raising a family of three girls in several parts of the country where Walt was stationed, with a little time out for travel. Bea died of co Ion cancer in 1973. We remember Walt as a loyal member of the class, who rendered outstanding service for our 64th reunion as treasurer, in keeping our expenses under control.
Walt is survived by his daughters, Joan A. Berdan, Judith A. Sickley, and Dorothy A. Castner; seven grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren, to all of whom we extend our deep sympathy.
