Waring Jones ’51

Waring prepared at Deerfield, served in the Army, and at Princeton majored in English and was a member of Triangle and Colonial.

For several years he was editor and publisher of the Hokah Chief in Minnesota before joining filmmaker Louis De Roche- mont in New York to work on documentaries. Thereafter, he joined H.M. Tennant and Binkie Beaumont in London and was producer of hits including The Constant Wife with Ingrid Bergman. He later returned to Wayzata, Minn., where he was instrumental in reviving The Playwright’s Center.

He and Nini Agnete Tesdorpf (“Yoyo”) married in 1959 and were the parents of Henrik, Finn-Olaf, and Benedicte Jones Hallowell. Waring died Jan. 10, 2008, after a long illness. He is survived by his sons and daughter; eight grandchildren; his former wives, Yoyo Tesdorpf Jones and Lucy Rosenberry Jones; and his cousins John N. Winton Jr. ’52 and Kate Winton ’83. His cousin Mike Winton ’51 died April 30, 2008.
