Warren Allen, businessman and community leader, died in Seaford, Del., Nov. 14, 2010. With the exception of his Army service, he lived in Seaford for his entire life.

Warnie prepared for Princeton at Seaford High School, where he was a star athlete, and at Peddie School. At Princeton he was an outstanding third baseman, joined Charter Club, and majored in political science.

After graduation Warnie married Doris Allen and served with the Field Artillery. He was assigned to the Division Special Services Unit of the 8th Infantry Division, which fought through the Hürtgen Forest and in the Battle of the Bulge. At the end of the war he separated as a major.

Back in Seaford he and his brothers managed the family business, Allen Family Foods Inc., a major source of poultry products. He served on a number of boards at the state and local level. In 2008 he received the Marvel Award of the Delaware Chamber of Commerce “for a lifetime of business and philanthropic excellence.”

Doris died in 1990. In 2000 Warnie married Paula Hust, who survives him as do two sons, Warren Jr. and William, and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his children, Linda Allen Mears and Leland Allen. The class sends condolences to the family.
