Wesley Allen Wagner ’47

Body

WES WAGNFR died suddenly June 2, 1992, sadly just two clays prior to joining the Class for its 45th reunion. Wes had been looking forward with great anticipation to this event and had been a faithful attender of both major and minireunions. His friendly manner and grand sense of humor will be sorely missed.

A native of Brooklyn, Wes came to Princeton on the V12 program and was commissioned in the Marine Corps, He was president of Key & Seat Club and graduated coin laude as a history major. In 1954, after six years with National Lead, Wes joined Agrichem Corp. He was president of that independent chemical broker and shipping company at the time of his retirement, after a stroke in 1982.

While Agrichem was located in New York, Wes and his family lived in New Canaan, Conn. He relocated the company to Beverly, Mass., in 1972, moving Ingrid and the children to Ipswich. In recent years Prouts Neck, Me., and Hobe Sound had been happy seasonal retreats. Community involvement included the Castle Hill Foundation in Ipswich, Spaulding Rehabilition Hospital in Boston, and the United Fund and Y.M.C.A. in Beverly. He was a governor of Myopia Hunt Club in Hamilton.

Wes leaves his widow, Ingrid; daughter Christina '76; sons H. Whitney and W. Lawrence; and two brothers, Edward and Peter. To each of them we extend out deep sympathy.
