ALEX DIED July 10, 1991, in Montclair, N.J. He went to Newark Academy. At Princeton he majored in economics, with considerable additional study of architecture, was a member of Gateway Club, and was student manager of the waiting system at Commons.

After graduation he went to work for General Drafting Co. in New York. This company made and published many of the maps which were formerly available free at gasoline stations. He worked in almost every department of the company and used his architectural skill in remodeling an old estate at Convent Station, NJ,, into the company headquarters. He was instrumental in establishing one of the company's leading accounts, with Standard Oil of New Jersey, now known as Exxon.

Alex married Ida Belle Durham in 1935. A daughter Marcia, born in 1939, died in 1968, and a son, W. A. 111, survives. This marriage was terminated by divorce in 1950. Alex married Fernande (familiarly known as Noncle) Gardner on Oct. 17, 1953, She survives, as does her daughter Gail Vaughn Wesson and six grandchildren. Alex and Nonde traveled widely after his retirement in 1970. He was an enthusiastic sailor and photographer. A brother, Henry B. '29, is deceased.

Alex was a faithful Princetonian, with a wide circle of friends in the Class. He and Nonde regularly attended and enjoyed reunions and other Class gather. His classmates extend deep sympathy to Nonde and their family.
