William B. Wylly ’40

Body

As an acknowledgement of his respect and gratitude for his Princeton undergraduate experience, Bill Wylly once wrote, ''Princeton offered the greatest gift for me, a small Engineering School in a great university, to room with and eat with men in the fields of English, History, Arts and Music and to learn something from all of them." Bill died from cancer Dec. 24, 1994, in Atlanta, where he had lived for many years. Retired national sales manager for Dean Bros. Pumps, he had earlier been with Fairbanks, Morse & Co.

Bill prepared at Tennille (Ga.) H.S. and earned his degree in mechanical engineering. A member of Triangle, Theatre Intime, and Campus Club, he coxed crew and roomed with Don Test and Tom Cleavenger. He served in the Pacific as a lieutenant in the Navy. Bill was active in his immediate community and belonged to various engineering societies and the Society of the Cincinnati in the State of Georgia. When they had the opportunity, Barbara and Bill attended our major reunions to enjoy and renew friendships.

Bill is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Virginia and Barbara; son Thomas; and three grandchildren. The class offers its deepest sympathy to them all.
