William Brewster Mitchell ’74

Body

BREW MITCHELF died of cancer July 2, 1993. The son of S. Keene Mitchell Jr. '36 of Kingston, Penn., Brew came to Princeton from the Taft School in Watertown, Conn.

Widely remembered as a broadcaster at Princeton's WPRB radio station, Brew was a member of Tower Club. With characteristic wit, he once described his Princeton years as "battles against official and academic drudgery" that were "overshadowed by the fortunate acquaintance of some very special people." He majored in art history, writing his thesis on "The Early Architectural Developments of the Collegiate Environment."

After Princeton, Brew worked for the United Way of Denver for several years. He then went to graduate school, earning a master's degree in business administration at the Univ. of Pennsylvania. He worked for GAF Corp. and American Television and Communications. He had the opportunity to combine his interests in broadcasting and business when he was appointed senior V.P. and C.F.O. of Primestar Partners of Bala Cynwyd, Penn., a consortium of cable television companies.

The Class of 1974 extends its sincere sympathies to Brew's parents; his brother, Samuel K. 111 '68; and his sisters, Polly and Martha.
