William C. Hendricks Jr. ’55

Bill was born in Pittsburgh, attended Brookville High School, and graduated from Mercersburg. At Princeton he majored in biology, was a member of Quadrangle, and roomed with Jerry Johnson and John Fenlon senior year.

After completing medical school at Penn, Bill continued his studies and training at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pa., and the Cleveland Clinic. His illustrious career in neurosurgery began in Erie, Pa., where he served as chief of the division of neurosurgery at Hamot Hospital. He was a contributor to local, state, and national medical associations for many years.

A man of many interests, Bill held a radio operator’s license, a scuba certification, a private pilot’s license, and enthusiasm for sailing on Lake Erie and in Florida. Golf was another activity for this multitalented man.

Bill is survived by Janet, his wife of 52 years; three daughters; three grandchildren; his sister; several nieces and nephews; an extended family; and many friends to whom the class extends deepest sympathy.
