William Campbell Gay ’27

DIED Sept. 3, 1991, at his house in Huntington Bay, Long Island. He retired in 1970, after many years as a partner in the brokerage firm of Gay & Co., an old family business and a member of the Stock Exchange.

Bill's father, of an old Brooklyn family, was president of the Exchange. Bill was a senior partner in the firm of DeCoppet & Doremus.

Bill was very active in the social affairs of Huntington, including the Methodist Church, the Red Cross, the Y.M.C.A., the Country and Yacht Clubs, also the MidOcean Club of Bermuda, the Princeton Club of New York, Tower Club, and the affairs of Andover, his prep school. He collected stamps and enjoyed swimming and golf at his country club.

Bill was married first to Evelyn Watson Sherman, and later to Mary T. Blackwell. He is survived by three sons, Charles S., William C. Jr., and Robert A.; eight grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. A memorial service was held at St. John's Church, Cold Spring Harbor, LT, on Sept. 6.
