BILL CLOWNEY WAS KILLED instantly on Aug. 25, 1994, when his car was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer near Bill's Morristown, N.J., home. His wife, Mary, survived with moderate injuries.

Bill prepared at Mercersburg Academy, as did his older brother Frank. Both were second generation Princetonians; their father, Frank S., was in the Class of '18. At Princeton, Bill was president of Cannon Club and a member of the Interclub Committee. He enjoyed golf and tennis.

Bill left Princeton and served as a battery commander in the 397th Field Artillery Batallion in Germany. He returned to Princeton and got his politics degree in 1948. He then attended the Univ. of Pennsylvania until he was recalled to active duty. He served a year and a half as an artillery officer during the Korean War, then joined Prudential Insurance Co. Bill was very active in the community: he was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Morristown, board chairman of Morristown Memorial Hospital, a trustee of Fairleigh Dickinson Univ., and a member of several clubs.

Bill is survived by his widow, Mary Seaman; three sons, Dr. Lester S., William C., and Michael S.; two daughters, Elizabeth C. Byrnes and Janet C. Kermes; his brother Frank; and three grandchildren, The class extends its deepest sympathies to the family.
