William Edge Weisbrod ’59

Bill prepared for Princeton at the Tower Hill School in Wilmington, Del. During his sophomore year he joined Tower Club and received a private pilot’s license through the Princeton Flying Club. A serious accident in the summer between sophomore and junior year hospitalized Bill for several months, after which he chose to continue his education at St. Louis University, where he earned a degree in aeronautical engineering.

Following a brief tour of duty with the Army, Bill turned to his passion, flying, and took a job in general aviation. In 1965 he signed on with Eastern Air Lines as a first officer. In that same year he also signed on with Donna Waldron, to whom he was married at the time of his death.

Bill spent his life loving his flying career. Retiring as a captain from Eastern, he then flew in Taiwan and Saudi Arabia as a Boeing 757 captain and operations director for Makung Airlines in Taiwan; at one time he also was pilot for the president of Kazakhstan.

Bill is survived by Donna and his daughters, Tracy Nierth and Kerry Klein. We have sent condolences.
