Body

BILL GILMORE died Oct. 16, 1992, of congestive heart failure, at his home in Naples, Fla. Until his retirement in 1982, he had been a prominent surgeon in the Baltimore area.

After graduating from Johns Hopkins Medical School, Bill pursued his vocation on the staff of Union Memorial Hospital, Greater Baltimore Medical Center, Lutheran Hospital, and Johns Hopkins Hospital, where he had a long tenure as a clinical instructor in surgery.

For his many years of volunteering service to the armed forces, he was cited by Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, and Nixon. He was a member of the American Board of Surgery, the American Medical Assn., the Southern Medical Assn., and Baltimore Medical Societies. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed his membership in the Green Spring Valley Hunt Club, the Country Club of Naples, and several other clubs.

He is survived by his widow, Marjorie Young Gilmore, three daughters, Eleanor Massie, Bliss Warner, and C. Tobey Shaw; and seven grandchildren. To all of them, the Class offers its sincere sympathy in their bereavement.
