William Fuller Parmer Brawner ’24
W. P. FULLER BRAWNER DIED Mar. 11, 1991. Shortly after graduation he joined his family business, the W. P. Fuller paint company in San Francisco. It was started by his grandfather William Partner Fuller, who came to California in 1849 seeking gold but wound up dealing in paints and oils. He became president of the Fuller company in 1956 and remained with it until it was sold in 1963,
In WWII he served as a major in the Army's chemical warfare division in which he supervised the production of incendiary bombs and flame throwers. He was very active in civic, business and social affairs and was on the board of numerous organizations including the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce, Mills College, station KQED, Carter Hawley Hale stores, and the Bank of California. He had a special interest in education. He helped to found the Athenian School in Danville and was on the boards of the Sarah Dix Hamlin School and the College of Notre Dame. He is survived by his wife, Isabel; his daughters Katherine and Ann; his son John; his brother Harry '21; his nephews Alexander '45 and Robert'52; and by seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
To them we extend our sympathy.
