Bill suffered a stroke and died Dec. 23, 1994, at St. Francis Hospital, in Wilmington, Del., his home since 1951. He was 71. He prepared at Summit H.S. Sophomore year, he roomed with Bill Archbold; junior year, with Roger Ward; and senior year, with Art Van Horne, Bill Trible, and Don Thomson in 1901 Hall. He belonged to Cloister Inn and was active in the Yacht Club, the Band, and Glee Club; he was also make-up editor of The Daily Princetonian. After receiving his B.A. in 1943, he was commissioned at Ft. Sill, flew as liaison pilot with the artillery in the European Theater, and was discharged a first lieutenant in 1946, with the Purple Heart and Air Medal. At Princeton, he majored in economics, did postwar graduate studies in economics at N.Y.U., and became a banker, first with Bankers Trust in N.Y.C., then with Investment Research in Wilmington, and, from 1961 on, with Wilmington Trust, of which he was v.p. when he retired, in 1989. Bill was a loyal Princetonian, enthusiastic in attendance at Reunions and football games. He was active in his church, in numerous professional groups, and in the community. He leaves his widow, Diana; two sons; three· stepsons; a sister; and two grandchildren, to whom we extend our deepest sympathies.
