William Henry Dresser ’52

Body

FOLLOWING A METASTATIS of throat cancer, Bill Dresser died Sept. 25, 1990. At the memorial service held in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Medina, Ohio, his close friend Richard Marco summed up Bill's life, saying, "He lived for his family; his one desire in life was to see his wife comfortable and content, his children settled and well begun in their life's work; he was fulfilled."

Graduating from Exeter in 1946, Bill entered Princeton with the Class of 1949. After service in the navy, he joined the Class of 1952, and married Patricia Littler on Aug. 26, 1950. Bill and Pat lived in veterans' housing, and he majored in English and joined Elm Club. Their first daughter, Elizabeth, was born a month following graduation.

Bill first worked for the From Corp., and in 1956 he joined Dow Chemical in sales. He took early retirement from Dow, after 22 years, so that he and Pat could travel together in the countries where he had worked, particularly the U.K. They loved London and the English countryside, and they had returned from England shortly before his cancer was diagnosed. Bill also assisted Pat in breeding and exhibiting purebred dogs.

Bill is survived by Pat and their three daughters: Elizabeth D. Beard, Christine D.VM., and Sarah D. Scott. To them we extend our sympathies.
