BILL DIED Sept. 15, 1993, at his home in Locust Valley, N.Y. Having spent his entire business career in the securities field, he had retired as managing director of Shearson Lehman Hutton in 1989,

Bill prepared for Princeton at the Los Alamos Ranch School, majored in history, and graduated with honors. He was also a member of Colonial.

During the war, he served in the army air corps as a captain and returned to civilian life in 1945. He joined the industrial department of Lehman Brothers as an associate and became a partner in 1960.

Bill was a yachtsman, pilot, skier, and photographer. He served as chairman of the executive committee and secretary of the board of directors of the Hospital for Special Surgery on Long Island. Having joined the board in 1957, he was the fifth generation of his family to so serve, spanning a period of more than 150 years.

To his widow, Barry; son William 111; daughters Pamela and Katherine; and to his eight grandchildren, we extend our most sincere condolences.
