William Henry Reynolds ’32

Body

Bill Reynolds, our film editor par excellence, died July 16, 1997, of cancer in South Pasadena, Calif.

Bill devoted his entire life to the film industry, serving as editor or coeditor on more than 70 movies. Beginning at Fox Film Corp., he became an editor at Paramount in 1935. His career there was interrupted by military service in WWII from 1942-46, when he worked on Army training films. He was an editor for 20th Century Fox from 1947-62, and thereafter did freelance work. He won Academy Awards for his work on The Sound of Music, starring Julie Andrews, and The Sting, with Robert Redford and Paul Newman. He was also nominated for Academy Awards for five other films.

Bill never married and, so far as we know, left no close relatives.
