William Kenneth Boone III ’31

Body

Bill Boone died in Mexico in Oct. 1988. He joined us at Princeton in our sophomore year but did not stay the course, withdrawing in the middle of junior year. Although he was with us only briefly, he enjoyed attending many of our major reunions and kept in touch through the years.

Bill was born in Jalapa, Mexico (near Veracruz), was married in 1939, and became a Mexican citizen. He was involved in ranching and real-estate development before becoming the Mexican representative of the Fink and Triest Co. of Philadelphia, exporting vanilla to the U.S. In 1967, he became a translator for the Organizing Committee of the Mexico City Olympic Games. He continued to work as a self-employed translator for magazines, international congresses, and the legal profession. His hobbies included travel and collecting orchids.

A widower, Bill is survived by a daughter, Carmen (Mrs. Rigoberto de Aguilar); a son, William K. IV ’64; and two grandchildren. Our sympathy goes out to them. We are happy that, although his college days with us were brief, he still felt very much a part of the class and of Princeton.
