William Lewis Brewster ’27
BILL BREWSIER died Aug. 6, 1993, in a Portland, Oreg., care center, at the age of 88.
A lifelong resident of Portland, Bill came to Princeton from Thacher School and Reed College. In Princeton, he was stage manager of the Triangle Club and a member of Cannon Club. He roomed with Tommy Wilson all four years.
After studying at Harvard Business School in 192930, he became a partner in the firm of Strong and Brewster, estate and property managers. He served as president of the Portland Assn. of Building Owners and Managers and on the executive committee of that group's national association. Following his retirement in 1978, Bill's civic activities in Portland were spectacular. He served as president of the Oregon Mental Health Assn., and served the Counc it of Social Agencies, the Urban League of Portland, the Portland Arts Commission, and Catlin College. He was also a director of the Portland Community Chest and the public library.
During WWII, he was a referee of the West Coast Lumber Commission of the Natl. Labor Board.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nan; two daughters, Ann Clarke and Elizabeth Rocchia; three grandsons; and two greatgrandchildren.
The class mourns with them the loss of one of its most respected members.
