William McGarvey Crafft ’35

Body

Bill Crafft died in Oakland, Calif., on July 28, 1989, just days before his 75th birthday.

At Princeton, he was a premed student and won second-group honors. He often entertained his friends in Pyne Hall and Dial Lodge with his delightful sense of humor. After he received his medical degree in 1941 from the Univ. of Illinois, where he was V.P. of his class, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. His 21 years of service to the Navy were recognized by his elevation to the rank of captain. After he retired, he showed his generous and compassionate nature by continuing to work, serving many hospitals in the area. He ended his career as head of the pathology dept. of the Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo, Calif.

The class extends its deepest sympathy to his sons, Paul and Cyrus, his seven grandchildren, his stepchildren, and his sister, Elizabeth Hansen.
