William R. Evans ’44 *50

Bill died Nov. 17, 2008. He and his wife had lived on Manhattan’s East Side for several decades.  

Bill had no listings in our undergraduate directories, but a brief biography in our 10th-reunion book reported that he served as a squad leader in the 69th Infantry Division in Europe for three years during World War II, received a bachelor’s degree from Princeton in 1948, and earned an M.F.A. in architecture from Princeton in 1950. He was a member of Cloister Inn.  

After working briefly in Salisbury, Md., he moved to New York, where he was a partner for many years with the architectural firm of Hutchins, Evans & Lefferts. After retirement in 1990, Bill was a consultant with the National Executive Service Corps for 12 years. At one time, he reported memberships in the Princeton clubs of New York and Philadelphia.  

He is survived by his wife, Marie-Anne Evans, to whom we offer sincere condolences.
