(Duke University Press) Based on ethnography from around the world, this collection of essays explores the meaning of addiction in different contexts. The authors propose “addiction trajectories” as a tool for seeing how addiction is viewed in different cultures. Eugene Raikhel is an assistant professor of Comparative Human Development at the University of Chicago, and William Garriott is an assistant professor of Justice Studies at James Madison University.
