The Age of Choice
Rosenfeld’s The Age of Choice (Princeton University Press) explores the evolution of human choice, tracing its path from the 17th century to today. Rosenfeld examines changing practices of shopping and notions of religion, as well as themes of choice in love, politics, and human rights. She does so through the lens of women, a group often left with the least choice. Today, we are often overwhelmed with a buffet of choices, and Rosenfeld ultimately questions whether our obsession with choice is liberating or actually binding.
