(Gallimard) This book comprises all of Camus’ writings on capital punishment, including about 30 previously unpublished documents, with introductions to their historical and political contexts. Many of these documents pertain to the Algerian War of Independence (1954-62). The book concludes with an essay on the death penalty in Camus’ most famous novels. Morisi is an assistant professor in French and francophone literatures at the University of St. Andrews.
