Ancient Christianities
In Ancient Christianities (Princeton University Press), Fredriksen examines the evolution of early Christianities over five centuries, exploring diverse landscapes, peoples, and narratives. She traces Christianity’s transformation from its roots in Judea to its eventual dominance in the Roman Empire. Drawing on a rich array of sources — including canonical and noncanonical texts, archaeological findings, and more — Fredriksen unveils a dynamic and nonlinear history of what she refers to as an “energetically diverse biblical religion.”
