In The Anomaly: A Novel of the Empty Quarter, professor Emily Goddard, a Middle East scholar from Princeton, heads a team of specialists investigating a bizarre “anomaly” underneath the sand dunes of Saudi Arabia’s Empty Quarter. Plaguing their work are rumors of a mysterious lost city, buried by a colossal sand storm in ancient times. Robert W. Lebling ’69 is a journalist and the author of two previous books.
