The Ashtray (Or the Man Who Denied Reality)

Before Errol Morris became a well-known documentarian, he was a graduate student at UC Berkeley — and before that, he got kicked out of the graduate philosophy of science program at Princeton. The Ashtray (University of Chicago Press) is a sometimes-acerbic volley against Morris’ now deceased Princeton advisor, Thomas Kuhn, whom Morris claims distorted and denied objective truth through his theory of “paradigms.”
