What does it mean to be Asian American? That’s one of the many questions Lee tackles in Biting the Hand (Holt, Henry & Company). In the book, Lee, the daughter of Korean immigrants, reflects on her personal journey of self-discovery to understand her racial identity and role in the fight for equality. Key moments through her life, including the beating of Rodney King, forced Lee to question the complicity she was taught. Lee ultimately argues for Asian Americans to work alongside Black and brown communities to promote lasting social change.
