Breaks in the Chain: What Immigrant Workers Can Teach America about Democracy

(University of Minnesota Press) In this book, Apostolidis looks at the lives of a group of Mexican immigrants who work as meatpackers, one of the most dangerous jobs in the country. He shows how these undocumented immigrants worked to democratize their union and, through the exploration of their efforts, he explores how immigrants construct and transform social power. Apostolidis is the Judge and Mrs. Timothy A. Paul Chair of Political Science at Whitman College.
