Grace Lankford, a freshman at Northwestern, never met her grandfather while she was growing up. She only knew of her mother’s bitter feelings toward him. The Bridge of Grace (Self-published) tells the story of Grace making contact with her grandfather Jack who she learns is in a nearby hospital. Told from both Grace’s and Jack’s perspective (through Grace’s reading of Jack’s childhood diaries), the tale uncovers the complexity of family dynamics as the duo tries to reconnect.
