(Oxford University Press) After years of research, Maguire explores Oscar Wilde’s peculiar involvement in the Dreyfus affair, a French political scandal involving a Jewish captain accused of treason by an anti-Semitic army command. Maguire explains how the affair pitted Wilde and Blacker against each other, ending their long-time friendship. Robert Maguire is a retired lawyer who has studied in both Britain and France.
