Compelled by Love

(Iris Global Film) Shara Pradhan ’01 produced, directed, and wrote this feature-length documentary film about Heidi Baker, whose ministry cares for thousands of orphans in more than 30 countries. The film was shot over a period of 20 years, in 10 countries and in war zones, brothels, bushes, and on Ivy League campuses. It follows Baker as she journeys into the world’s most desperate places, in pursuit of the presence of God. Baker is known as “Mama Heidi” to thousands of children and oversees a broad holistic ministry that includes Bible schools, medical clinics, church-based orphan care, well drilling, primary schools, evangelistic and healing outreaches in remote villages, and a network of thousands of churches. Pradhan co-authored the book Compelled by Love with Baker after serving as her personal assistant for nearly five years.
