The Crisis of American Foreign Policy: Wilsonianism in the Twenty-first Century

(Princeton University Press) “Was George Bush the heir of Woodrow Wilson?” So begins this timely exploration of the relationship between Woodrow Wilson’s ideals of liberal internationalism and George W. Bush’s foreign policy. The authors, scholars of American foreign policy, debate the terms of the concepts of the Wilsonian tradition, the relevance of this way of thinking to the Iraq War, and the influence such a framework should have in the future. G. John Ikenberry is the Albert G. Milbank Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. Thomas J. Knock is an associate professor of history at Southern Methodist University. Anne-Marie Slaughter is on leave from Princeton where she was dean of the Woodrow Wilson School to serve as chief of policy planning in the State Department. Tony Smith is a professor of political science at Tufts University.
