(Princeton University Press) Featuring original essays by 13 of Princeton Professor Yoshiaki Shimizu’s former students, Crossing the Sea covers a wide range of topics from premodern Buddhist art to modern Japanese paintings. In addition to honoring Professor Shimizu, a well-known scholar in Japanese art, the book also provides insight into Japanese art studies trends. Levine, Watsky, and Weisenfeld teach at U.C. Berkley, Princeton, and Duke, respectively.
