Democracy’s Lawyer: Felix Grundy and the Old Southwest

(Louisiana State University Press) Felix Grundy was one of the central political figures of the post-Revolutionary era. A self-made man, Grundy rose to prominence as a lawyer, U.S. senator, and reformer in the United States. As Heller explores Grundy’s varied life, he shows how Grundy typified the post-founding generation that would come to define many of America’s institutions and culture. Heller is chairman and CEO of a Washington, D.C. investment firm.
