Desperate Remedies
In his latest book, Scull analyzes the history of American psychiatry — from prisons to hospitals and everything in between. Scull collects the perspectives of various experts including psychologists, neuroscientists, cognitive behavioral therapists, and others to understand how our society has approached mental health in the past and those links to our current practices. Desperate Remedies (Harvard University Press) ultimately challenges our beliefs about mental illness.
