Dreaming in the Fault Zone
What is healing? In a fusion of lyrical writing and cultural criticism, Dreaming in the Fault Zone (Nightboat Books) explores art’s treatment of this intimate, complex topic. Stecopoulos looks to a variety of healers, from the familiar to the nontraditional. She engages in dialogue with physicians and psychotherapists, but also poets, spiritual seekers, and disability activists. Stecopoulos travels to places to see the many forms that healing can take by participating in community rituals and chronicling pilgrimages. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, Stecopoulos’ essays invite readers to learn, and occasionally laugh at a topic that couldn’t be more relevant.
