Dying Modern: A Meditation on Elegy
(Duke University Press) Through an examination of American and British poetry from the past two centuries, Fuss argues that poetry continues to speak on death even if society avoids the topic. Fuss looks at both obscure and well-known poets to highlight modern poetry’s interest in the words of the dying and the dead. Fuss is the Louis W. Fairchild ’24 Professor of English at Princeton.
