He covers topics ranging from the Greek and Roman conquests and Napoleon’s 1798 invasion to Egypt in the modern day, as a postcolonial state. A new afterword also examines the recent events of the Arab Spring in Egypt. Tignor is the Rosengarten Professor of Modern and Contemporary History, Emeritus, at Princeton University.
