The First Pop Age
(Princeton University Press) Richard Hamilton, Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, Gerhard Richter, and Ed Ruscha — the Pop Five — pioneered a form of Pop that combined old art forms with new media and high art with mass culture. Foster offers an account of one of the most significant periods in 20th-century art and also sheds new light on our complex relationships with images today. Foster is a professor of art and archaeology at Princeton University.
