(Yale University Press) Lope de Verga, writing during the Spanish Golden Age, was one of Spain’s most important playwrights. This play focuses on the decision of an entire village to admit to the premeditated murder of a tyrannical ruler. Racz had translated Lope de Verga’s work into English for the firs time, keeping an analogical meter and rhyme. Racz is an associate professor in the department of foreign languages and literature at Long Island University.
